Honestly, my opinion on dress codes is probably going to throw a lot of students who are trapped under the curse of a dress code off. I'll try to explain both sides of my topic. I say this because I support dress codes 100%. I support them because without dress codes, in my personal opinion, students would wear distracting clothing, such as wearing gang related clothes, shirts that show off their cleavage, pants that show off more than above shorts, the list gets ridiculously long, and that's only for girls. I really do hope students can take pride in themselves and understand that what you wear can affect others. Teachers can get distracted by this and are not able to teach or much worse. Although, I'm all for showing individuality, that's what accessories are for. Dress codes are set in place to keep students from getting out of control with their appearance.

I understand that BUT no matter what students and teachers will be distracted with clothing. We have uniforms and students(including you) always try to have something to out do each other like added accessories, shoes, jewelry and colors.
ReplyDeleteI understand that, but as long as we don't break school dress code or colors we're within the boundaries, and they can't really do anything.
DeleteAnd how exactly would students get out of control with their appearance because i think that's called individualism?

DeleteI agree. I have liked school much better than the days when students didn't wear standard attire. In fact, I hate out of uniform days because the distractions run rampant in our school! Research also proves that when students are less worried about what they wear, they learn more because they concentrate on their studies more. The issue with standard attire though is that when you all leave school, will you all know how to dress conservatively while expressing individuality? When you go to college, will you know how to dress appropriately? I have seen young girls wearing ridiculous clothing to my college class because they know no better. I've had to ask a young lady to leave my class before! That's the only thing I question. We should be teaching you all how to dress, not punishing everybody by making them look alike.
